The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday introduced a PHP3-billion loan facility aimed at helping Filipino exporters expand production, upgrade equipment, and strengthen their competitiveness in global markets.
The financing program was launched during an event at the DTI headquarters in Makati City, where Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque said the initiative is designed to provide exporters with the financial support needed to sustain growth and explore new international markets.
The announcement comes as the country’s exports continued to grow. In January, export revenues increased 7.9 percent to USD7.1 billion, following a record USD84.41 billion in total exports in 2025, fueled mainly by strong demand for electronics, minerals, and agro-based products.
According to Roque, the new facility complements other DTI financing initiatives, including the PHP2-billion Negosyo Fund for overseas Filipino workers and a loan program for women entrepreneurs. The OFW program aims to help migrant workers start businesses and recover financially from unexpected challenges.
The exporters’ loan facility will open on March 12, 2026, offering financing ranging from PHP30,000 to PHP20 million.
Meanwhile, the loan program for women entrepreneurs primarily supports micro and small enterprises, which make up a large share of businesses in the Philippines.
During the launch, Roque also distributed around PHP21.6 million in financial assistance to 15 women-led enterprises, highlighting the government’s continued efforts to promote and empower women in business.
