MANILA – The trough of Tropical Storm Nuri and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, are expected to bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over several parts of the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Weather specialists said the trough or extension of the tropical storm is likely to affect areas in the eastern section of the country, bringing periods of rain and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the amihan will continue to influence weather conditions in Northern and Central Luzon, resulting in generally cloudy skies with light rains or drizzle.
PAGASA advised residents in affected areas to remain alert for possible flooding or landslides, particularly in locations prone to these hazards during prolonged rainfall.
The weather bureau also said coastal waters in parts of Luzon may become moderate to rough due to the strengthening northeast monsoon, prompting small sea vessels to exercise caution when venturing out to sea.
Authorities continue to monitor the movement of Tropical Storm Nuri and its possible effects on the country’s weather conditions in the coming days.
