BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City government has unveiled the draft of its upcoming investment guide, “Doing Business in Bacolod,” in collaboration with professional services firm SyCip Gorres Velayo & Company (SGV & Co.), as part of efforts to attract more investors to the city.
The rollout of the publication draft took place Monday at L' Fisher Hotel. The event also included a data validation session organized by the city’s Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (DLEDIP) to review and confirm the accuracy of the information included in the guide.
According to DLEDIP head Frances Mae Llamas, the official launch of the publication is being targeted for May 14 or 15 during the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Visayas Area Business Conference, which will be held at SMX Convention Center Bacolod.
Representatives from various city departments, national government agencies, and utility service providers participated in the validation session. Participants worked together in focused discussions covering key areas such as the economy, tourism, connectivity, quality of life, and workforce development.
The initiative began in October last year when Greg Gasataya, mayor of Bacolod City, formally launched the partnership with SGV & Co. The SGV team was led by its chair and chief executive Wilson Tan and deputy managing partner Noel Rabaja.
The publication aims to showcase Bacolod’s investment opportunities, infrastructure development, skilled workforce, strong peace and order, and good governance.
Under the agreement, SGV will help design the publication, define its scope, and review key information related to establishing businesses in Bacolod. This includes details on local taxation, the city’s socio-economic profile, demographics, and other relevant data.
Meanwhile, the city government will gather the necessary data and documents, draft the content, review SGV’s suggested revisions, finalize the publication, and oversee its printing.
