Musikahan sa Tagum highlights arts and culture as drivers of transformation

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — The grand opening of the 2026 Musikahan sa Tagum Festival on February 16 carried a strong message that arts and culture can serve as powerful tools for transformation, meaningful communication, and community development.

More than just a showcase of vibrant performances, orchestral music, and melodic songs, the event gathered cultural advocates, government officials, and artists in celebration of the 23rd Musikahan sa Tagum Festival.

Over the years, the festival has helped position Tagum City as the “City of Harmony,” promoting music and the arts as central elements of the city’s identity.

In his keynote speech, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) XI Regional Head Rene V. Carbayas emphasized that the Musikahan festival plays an important role in preserving culture, particularly in the Davao Region, which is rich in indigenous traditions and modern creative expressions.

He noted that events like Musikahan sa Tagum provide a platform to celebrate and sustain the region’s diverse cultural heritage while inspiring communities through artistic expression.
