Iran’s President Warns of Retaliation Over US-Israeli Strikes, Urges Unity with Neighboring States

Masoud Pezeshkian, president of Iran, on Sunday vowed that Tehran would respond to attacks carried out by the United States and Israel from any location, while emphasizing that Iran considers neighboring countries as “brothers.”

Speaking during a visit to a health center, Pezeshkian said earlier remarks in which he apologized for attacks affecting nearby countries had been misunderstood. His comments were reported by state broadcaster Press TV.

“We stand strongly against and respond powerfully to those who attack our country,” Pezeshkian said. He added that Iran’s armed forces, along with volunteer units from the Basij militia, are prepared to defend the nation with full force.

“Iran will not bow down to bullying, oppression and aggression,” he said.

The president also called for Iran and neighboring states to settle their differences internally and avoid being drawn into wider conflict. He warned that external actors are attempting to provoke war and create divisions in the region.

According to reports from Tehran, more than 1,200 people — including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials — have been killed in US-Israeli attacks on Iranian territory since Feb. 28.

In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Gulf countries hosting US military facilities.
