Marcos Expresses Support for UAE, Calls for Peaceful End to Gulf Tensions

Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday expressed solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and voiced hope for a peaceful resolution to the rising tensions in the Gulf region.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, Marcos conveyed his support during a phone conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the call, Marcos affirmed his confidence in the UAE government’s ability to safeguard both its citizens and the large Filipino community residing in the country. Nearly one million Filipinos currently live and work in the UAE.

The Philippine leader also expressed hope that the hostilities in the region would soon end and that stability would be restored.

Recent reports from the UAE indicated several missile and drone incidents across its territory following retaliatory actions by Iran against joint military strikes conducted by the United States and Israel. Iranian forces have reportedly targeted US military assets across several Gulf Arab states.
